Home ownership assistance available

Home ownership is attainable.

Human Resources for academic campus and U of U Health academics has rolled out a new home ownership assistance resources page as one of their Living in Utah links.  The Home Ownership Assistance page includes information about some available assistance options.  One of the options highlighted is the availability of home buying assistance through Landed, which is new for University employees.

Landed was awarded one of four inaugural Ivory Prizes from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business in 2019.  (The Ivory Prize is an annual award recognizing ambitious, feasible, and scalable solutions to housing affordability.)  Landed helps essential professionals (including employees of educational institutions) purchase homes near the communities they serve.  Landed’s shared-equity down payment program invests alongside the employee to help them reach a 20% down payment. Landed’s funds come in the form of an equity investment, meaning homebuyers share in a portion of the gain (or loss, if any) of the home’s value once the partnership is ended—typically by sale or refinance.  Participants do not need to be first time homebuyers and there are no income or asset limits needed to qualify.

Landed will be holding some information sessions for employees who are interested in learning more.  Register for an info session at www.landed.com/uofu.  Info sessions for University of Utah faculty and staff will be held:

  • Tuesday, August 31 / 1:00pm – 2:00pm
