Go global during International Education Week

All of this year's events will be offered in a virtual format following COVID-safe guidelines.

Nov. 16-20, 2020, is International Education Week and is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to learning experiences in the U.S.

While it’s been a challenging year for international travel, the U’s Chief Global Officer Dr. Chris Ireland notes that “the last year has shown us just how interconnected we all are. I think that underscores how critical it is to support our students and scholars in becoming global leaders—the future requires it.”

Despite restrictions, our campus community has found creative ways to support international education. The week offers a wide variety of events—from cooking classes to advising sessions to panel discussions—and demonstrates the diversity of ways students can engage in global learning across campus.

All of this year’s events will be offered in a virtual format following COVID-safe guidelines. A full schedule of events is available at global.utah.edu/iew. Follow the Office for Global Engagement on Instagram at @globalUofU for updates.
