Enter the U’s 175th anniversary student art contest!

To celebrate the University of Utah’s 175th anniversary, College of Fine Arts students are invited to participate in a visual arts contest. This competition is an opportunity to showcase your artistic talent while honoring the U’s campus. Over $2,000 of cash prizes will be awarded.

Theme:

Create a proposal to visually represent the University of Utah’s campus, highlighting its iconic buildings, stadiums, gathering places or other notable locations. Your piece may depict these spaces as they are today, as they appeared in history or a combination of both. Your piece may also depict place as a space defined by a gathering of people, such as in a classroom, at a sporting event, tailgating, etc.

Awards:

  • First place: $1,000 and the opportunity to complete the final piece under faculty mentorship by Sept. 5, 2025.
  • Second place: $800
  • Third place: $600

Eligibility:

Open to all University of Utah students currently enrolled in the College of Fine Arts working in visual mediums.

Submission Guidelines:

Submit a proposal of your intended piece, including a concept description and any preliminary sketches or plans.
All proposals must be received by 11:59 p.m. on May 5, 2025.

The first-place winner’s final artwork will be reproduced and sold as part of the University of Utah’s 175th-anniversary celebrations.
