Duo Mobile will no longer support Android 8/9 and iOS 13 after Feb. 9

Effective Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, Duo Mobile will no longer support Android 8, Android 9, iOS 13 or older mobile operating systems. If you still use Android 8/9, iOS 13 or an older operating system on your mobile devices (e.g., smartphones and tablets), please upgrade them before Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023.

Although installed versions of Duo Mobile will continue to work after Feb. 9, users will be unable to download the latest version of the app on Android 8/9 and iOS 13, and Duo will no longer troubleshoot issues, push IT security updates, or provide maintenance fixes for those operating systems. Additionally, the campus IT Help Desk and University of Utah Health ITS Service Desk may not be able to help users with unsupported operating systems.

Those with unsupported operating systems can purchase a Duo token from the University Campus Store for $23.

Duo Mobile, the University of Utah’s two-factor authentication (2FA) service, is required to log in to certain U digital resources, including UMail, CIS and Canvas.

For more information about the operating systems that Duo Mobile supports, please review the Android and iOS help articles in the Duo Knowledge Base.

If you have additional questions, your local IT support staff may be able to assist, or you may contact your respective help desk: UIT Help Desk at 801-581-4000; ITS Service Desk at 801-587-6000.
