Communication student wins essay award

The prize is given annually as part of an essay competition to encourage and support student research on the history, theory or criticism of rhetoric.

The National Communication Association (NCA) awarded Eunice Kim, a graduate student in the Department of Communication at the University of Utah, the 2019 James L. Golden Outstanding Student Essay in Rhetoric Award.

The award is given annually as part of an essay competition to encourage and support student research on the history, theory or criticism of rhetoric. Kim was recognized for the essay, “‘An Impression of Asian People:’ Stereotype & Identity in Ali Wong’s Standup Comedy.”

Kim’s award was presented in November at the NCA 105th Annual Convention in Baltimore.
