University of Utah Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Joel Harris is among the newest fellows of the American Chemical Society. Harris develops methods to image chemical structures and processes. Among his many awards, Harris recently received the Utah Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology in 2016 and the Calvin S. & JeNeal N. Hatch Prize in Teaching in 2019.
The American Chemical Society is the world’s largest scientific society. Fellows are selected for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the ACS. Harris is the fifth from the U, joining Cynthia J. Burrows, C. Dale Poulter, Peter Stang and Henry S. White. The 2019 class of fellows were announced in Chemical & Engineering News and will be honored in August at the ACS National Meeting in San Diego.
