Business school silent auction raises money for student scholarships

The David Eccles School of Business recently went primetime with a spot on ABC4 Utah’s Good Things Utah program to promote the Advanced Displays Eccles Business Open golf tournament and scholarship auction.

Now in its 27th year, the Eccles Business Open and Scholarship Auction raises money for the greatest need at the Eccles School: student scholarships. While golfers enjoy a day on the course for a good cause, the silent auction is open to anyone looking to make a difference in the life of a student—and score some pretty cool swag while they’re at it.

Items up for bid at this year’s auction include suite-level tickets to the sold-out Utah Football season opener against Florida, a Traeger Grill, ski passes and more. There is also the chance to enter an Opportunity Drawing for a private stay at a luxurious beach house in sunny Solana, CA.

“Today the need for scholarships is greater than it’s ever been,” said Jeffrey Gelder Lewis, a wealth management advisor and member of David Eccles Alumni Network Board’s golf committee. “One-third of all students surveyed nationwide say their families cannot afford college. The purpose of the golf tournament is to increase the scholarships for our students at the David Eccles School of Business.”
