U student teams to showcase innovative health care technologies at the 13th annual Bench to Bedside Competition Night

Over the 2022-23 school year, college students from the University of Utah and across the state have come together in multi-disciplinary teams to develop new, innovative solutions to problems facing today’s health care professionals.

Twenty-seven student teams will showcase their projects in a gala-style event, meeting with competition judges, industry professionals, mentors, investors, university leadership, community members, family and friends. After an evening of networking and celebration, an awards ceremony will announce the winners of the competition and send the winning teams home with nearly $100,000 in milestone funding.

While eight different academic institutions will be represented among the 80+ student competitors, the University of Utah boasts the largest group, accounting for 65 students—with 14 of the 27 teams comprised exclusively of U students.

Since its inception in 2010, the Bench to Bedside Program has launched hundreds of next-generation medical devices, awarded over $1.3 million in milestone funding to winning teams and given over 1,400 students from across Utah firsthand experience with health care innovation.
