Student Leadership & Involvement is hosting an Anti-Racism Poetry Workshop with Utah's Poet Laureate, Paisley Rekdal for the first 12 registrants.

Student Leadership & Involvement is hosting an Anti-Racism Poetry Workshop with Utah’s Poet Laureate, Paisley Rekdal on July 21, 2-3 p.m. via Zoom.

There are many ways to demonstrate anti-racism advocacy and leadership, including through creative writing and poetry. This workshop will be an opportunity for students to learn about anti-racism poems authored by African Americans throughout history, and engage in discussion on how poets have approached writing difficult topics such as racism, sexism, violence, politics, and the complexities of history. There will also be an opportunity for students to create poetry, and share with workshop peers. This workshop will focus on developing creative writing skills as leadership tools for anti-racism work.

Registration required. This is a pilot program and will be limited to the first 12 attendees who sign up. Must be a current University of Utah student or intending to enroll in courses in the fall.
