Advisor of the Month: Madeline Rencher

Madeline Rencher, academic advising coordinator in the Academic Advising Center.

The Advisor of the Month is a peer-nominated award in which staff on campus who have academic advising roles can give their advising peers recognition for their ability to go above and beyond in their roles and in the support they provide to students.

The current Advisor of the Month is Madeline Rencher, an academic advising coordinator in the Academic Advising Center.

Rencher received several nomination statements highlighting her contributions to New Student Orientation. Colleagues remarked on her time and dedication to making sure students had an enjoyable and informative orientation. Additionally, Rencher hosted several events for students exploring different majors and reviewed the curriculum for UGS 1050 Major Exploration. Another colleague remarked on her attention to detail in helping students through appeals and that her attention to detail had been pivotal to one student’s petition approval.

We are thrilled to congratulate Madeline Rencher on her selection as Advisor of the Month!

Rencher shared the following about her role as an advisor:

“As a graduate of the University of Utah, I look back on my own advising experiences as a student with gratitude for the advice and mentorship I received. It’s incredibly fulfilling to now be in the role of an academic advisor and assist students as they navigate their undergraduate degrees. My purpose as an academic advisor is to create a sense of inspiration, belongingness and growth where students can achieve their goals and ambitions in becoming the best version of themselves as they navigate their life journey.”

Congratulations Madeline Rencher!
