2024 National Survey of Student Engagement begins

Select first-year and senior students will be invited to participate in a National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), which will guide the University of Utah in developing programs and services that meet students’ needs. Administered every two years by Indiana University, the survey assesses student participation and engagement at universities.

The selected students will receive the initial email to their UMail account on Monday, March 11. Reminder emails will be sent until the survey closes on Monday, May 13.

As a token of appreciation, all students completing the survey by May 13 will have the chance to win one of 25 Amazon gift cards valued at $50 each. Your odds of winning depend on the number of completed surveys. In 2022, approximately 2,270 students responded!

Universities utilize this data to identify areas for improvement in undergraduate curricular and co-curricular experiences. These insights inform policy and practice adjustments, aligning with best practices in undergraduate education. Additionally, prospective students, parents, university counselors, academic advisors, institutional research officers, and researchers rely on this information to understand students’ experiences at different universities.

If you’ve been selected to participate, remember that your input is crucial in shaping the university’s programs and services. Your voices, perspectives, and experiences matter, and your participation will greatly influence the future of our campus.
