2015 SPECIAL ENROLLMENT FOR SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE INSURANCE

In connection with the University’s new, reduced premium rates for employee and spouse supplemental life insurance, The Hartford has agreed to offer university employees in benefit-eligible positions a special enrollment opportunity.

Sept. 21 through Oct. 30, university employees in benefit-eligible positions may enroll in up to $350,000 in supplemental term life insurance on their own lives and/or $30,000 in supplemental term life insurance on their spouse’s or domestic partner’s life, without providing proof of good health.

To be eligible for this special enrollment opportunity, you must be actively at work on the effective date of coverage or your first regularly scheduled work day following the date coverage takes effect. In addition, you are not eligible for this special enrollment if your previous application for life insurance coverage through the Hartford was denied.

See the Benefits Department’s webpage at hr.utah.edu/benefits/life-special.php for an enrollment form and additional information.

Representatives from The Hartford will be at Employee Appreciation Day on Sept. 24 to answer any questions and provide enrollment forms.  Stop by their table to meet Danelle Umstead from the U.S. Paralympic Alpine Ski Team.
