The PAC-12 conference named University of Utah head volleyball coach Beth Launiere as the coach of the year. This is Launiere’s 30th year of coaching for Utah and her first year as PAC-12 coach of the year. Previously she was the Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year three times.
In addition to the PAC-12 honor Launiere was also named coach of the year for the Pacific South Region of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. She wasn’t the only one recognized by the AVCA. Junior Dani Drews was named the AVCA Pacific South Region Player of the Year.
Drews is also one of four members of the team named AVCA All-Americans. Along with Drews, Kenzie Koerber and Berkeley Oblad have been named AVCA Second Team All-Americans, and Saige Ka’aha’aina-Torres has been named AVCA All-American honorable mention. This is the largest number of players ever to be honored as All-Americans in a single season.
The University of Utah women’s volleyball team is now competing in the NCAA playoffs.
