The University of Utah will host the 2026 National Institute for Native Leadership in Higher Education Summer Institute July 21-23, 2026, bringing together Native and non-Native administrators, faculty and professional staff from across the country to strengthen support for Indigenous and Native students in higher education.
“We are honored to host this important event on our campus,” said Lori McDonald, vice president for Student Affairs. “Welcoming a group of national leaders who are committed to advancing the success of Indigenous and Native students is a valuable opportunity for attendees to share best practices, strengthen student support systems and build a collaborative community.”
The institute, themed “Stronger Together: Collective Power and Collaboration for Native Higher Education,” will focus on professional development, networking and personal renewal for Native and non-Native administrators, professional staff and faculty committed to supporting Native student recruitment, retention and graduation.
For the University of Utah, hosting the convening reflects an important opportunity to support collaboration and learning across institutions.
“We are proud for the University of Utah to be part of helping shape the future of Native higher education,” said Samantha Eldridge, director of the Center for Native Excellence & Tribal Engagement.
The U campus along with community members are invited to join the 2026 convening. Registration and more information are available through ACPA.
