The David Eccles School of Business-affiliated Marriner S. Eccles Institute is hosting a lecture Nov. 19 featuring University of Chicago economist Eric Zwick, who will present research into what drives successful entrepreneurship.
Zwick, who is also part of the Harvard University-based Opportunity Insights team that uses data from tax and census records to understand economic and social issues, is to discuss new work titled “America’s Missing Entrepreneurs.”
His research suggests the economy is “missing” high-quality entrepreneurs. But why? He will delve into what drives successful entrepreneurship, tracing influences from childhood environment to early career experiences and wealth accumulation. His findings highlight the crucial role of early labor market experiences in fostering high-impact entrepreneurs, suggesting that removing pipeline barriers could unlock potential talent from underrepresented groups.
Open to students, faculty, alumni, media, and others interested in attending, the lecture takes place in the Rick and Marian Warner Auditorium (GARFF 1425) on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 3:45 p.m.
