U BOOK

Grab your U Book and start collecting memories. Become a “Tradition Keeper” as you collect pictures of yourself at campus events and locations.

By John Fackler, director of Alumni Relations, Alumni Association

What does joining The MUSS, visiting Red Butte Garden and attending the Homecoming Dance all have in common? All are great traditions included in the U Book traditions book published by the Student Alumni Board. Completing U Book traditions not only provides a great student experience, but also recognizes students as Tradition Keepers.

The 2015-16 edition of U Book just arrived. Get your free copy at the Alumni House, or if you’re a MUSS member, you’ll receive one at MUSS ticket distribution.

Inside you’ll find 50 traditions ranging from community service to campus events to athletic events. From Welcome Week to graduation, it’s all covered in U Book. The U Book is a great way to remember all that you did at the U. Complete a tradition by taking a photo including yourself at the U Book event or place and turning in your traditions to the Alumni House.

Become a “Tradition Keeper” by completing various levels of traditions.

  • If this is your first year at the U, complete 15 traditions by next spring and receive a special first-year block U pin.
  • If you’ve been at the U longer, complete 25 traditions for a white U Book pin and 35 for a red U Book pin.
  • But don’t stop at 35. Complete 45 of the 50 traditions, and you will receive the “Pure Crimson Medallion.”

The Student Alumni Board puts great effort into keeping U Book up to date. This group of highly involved campus leaders reviews traditions annually and changes several to keep the content fresh. The board says that the 2015-16 is the best ever. But don’t take their word for it. Come by the Alumni House and see for yourself.

Later this fall, the U Book app will launch, making it even easier to become a Tradition Keeper.
