Learn & Work in Utah

New, no-cost course opportunities available.

Three new programs are now available at the University of Utah at no cost to participants thanks to the Learn & Work in Utah program. In partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Utah System of Higher Education, the U and respected partners will be offering in-demand, short-term educational training programs for those who are unemployed, underemployed or vulnerable to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These programs have been identified to provide qualified Utah residents with training that can help them re-skill or up-skill and have their tuition covered through funding from the state legislature.

“Learn & Work in Utah is a great way for learners to improve their job skills to either return to the workforce or move up in their current careers,” said Angie Walker, senior director for academic and professional programs, Online and Continuing Education. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to support this initiative and to help Utahns get back to work.”

Upcoming program opportunities at the U include:

“In this second year of Learn & Work in Utah, we’re rolling out new and flexible programs including an innovative two-program stacked offering that allows learners to first focus on improving their English language proficiency and then directly move into a second program that will prepare them to enter the workforce as project managers,” said Walker. “This combined approach allows us to better meet the needs of traditionally underserved student populations.“

If you are a resident of Utah and are unemployed, underemployed or if your job is at risk, you are eligible to apply for these programs.
