“The journey of working at the Utah Asia Campus has been filled with countless unforgettable moments, but hosting the first commencement ceremony really stands out as a cherished memory for me. It symbolized the culmination of so many tireless efforts and was a chance to pause to honor and celebrate everyone’s remarkable achievements.
I started as the Dean of Students at the Utah Asia Campus and then moved to Salt Lake City to take on the role of Executive Director for the U Asia Campus. This move allowed me to still be involved in both student affairs, which I have always loved, but also opened collaborations with academic departments so we can manage faculty, staff, and curriculum development even better. Now, as Senior International Officer, I’m excited to continue building bridges between our campuses and fostering greater global engagement.
The growth that I have seen at the U Asia Campus since I started has been remarkable. I feel very lucky to have played a role in it. In 2016, we had around 200 students and a small student affairs team of just five people. Today, we’ve grown to over 600 students, and our team has more than doubled in size. All that growth boils down to more opportunities our students and I love to see that. It’s been really rewarding to be part of.
My hope for the U community is that we continue to build a vibrant, inclusive environment where every student, staff, and faculty member feels supported and valued. Having two campuses offers the U a unique opportunity to foster meaningful connections and inspire global perspectives. Together, we can create a place where everyone can grow, learn, and contribute to the world.”
