Making plans for winter break? Curious about housing options available to Housing & Residential Education residents during break? Look no further! Students are eligible for Winter Break Housing if they were HRE residents during the Fall 2022 semester and have a reserved space for the Spring 2023 semester. All Residents must fill out the “Winter Break Housing Form” in Housing U in CIS by 8 a.m. on Dec. 5. The form opens Oct. 24. Here are your options based on where you currently live:
Kahlert Village and University Guest House
KV and UGH residents will NOT have access to their rooms from Dec. 17 at 2 p.m until Jan. 6. Residents may sign up to remain in their room for the break period for an additional fee.
Apartments and Lassonde Studios
Apartments (U of U On the Draw, Downtown Commons 1 & 2, Shoreline Ridge, MHC and Benchmark Plaza) and Lassonde will remain open over the winter break period as it is built into the academic year contract. Residents still need to complete the “Winter Break Housing Form.”
Residence halls
Residence Halls (Chapel Glen, Gateway Heights, Officers Circle and Sage Point) close on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. until Jan. 6. Indicate your plans by completing the “Winter Break Housing Form.” If you need to stay in the Salt Lake area, you have three options:
- Book a stay in the University Guest House. Please note there is limited availability in the UGH over the break period.
- Make alternate plans to stay off campus.
- Submit a room change request if you prefer to live in a residence hall that includes optional or built-in break housing.
