U nationally ranked for LGBT support

The University of Utah is once again at the top of the list of the country’s Best Colleges for LGBTQ Students in Each State. The rankings, published by BestColleges and Campus Pride, evaluated factors such as admission, enrollment and graduations rates, affordability, quality of online offerings and eight LGBTQ inclusive factors and unique campus resources that support all students.

“We are humbled to be doing this work to support students in collaboration with many campus and community partners. It’s an honor to be among 49 other colleges and universities recognized for their outstanding efforts to foster campuses where LGBTQIA+ students can thrive,” said Clare Lemke, director of the LGBT Resource Center. “We also know that we don’t do this work alone, and that many of our peer institutions in the state are right there with us in continually trying to better serve LGBTQIA+ students. So, this recognition is not an ending point, but fuel to keep going as we strive to create a reality in which all students have an inclusive, equitable educational experience.”

The LGBT Resource Center also received a well-deserved shout-out for its mentorship programs, support resources and events like Fabulous Fridays. A weekly event where students celebrate the end of the week with food, games and an opportunity to meet new people.
