As previously announced, starting on Dec. 17, 2024, existing university Adobe licenses will expire. This change is due to Adobe moving all of its customers to a new licensing model and discontinuing its current model. As a result, the University of Utah and other universities are transitioning to an opt-in model.
Some IT support teams have requested the ability to assign Adobe licenses in bulk prior to the Dec. 3, 2024, rollout of new licenses. To help ease the transition for faculty and staff who currently use Adobe Creative Cloud, IT support staff in departments, colleges and other units have the option to provide UIT with lists of their users who need access to the equivalent new product, Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps. Please submit user lists by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, to classhelp@utah.edu.
A user list template is available in Box for download (login required). The following information must be included for each user:
- First name
- Last name
- uNID
- Department/college/unit
- Role: Faculty or staff
Notes:
No files or data will be lost during the transition.
- UIT recommends Adobe Express for most users. Adobe Express meets the needs of many users who currently use Creative Cloud (e.g., editing videos, submitting travel receipts and editing PDFs).
- Local IT staff should routinely install Acrobat Reader on new computers. Reader for Mac and Windows is available from the Office of Software Licensing’s catalog (login required).
- On Dec. 3, 2024, UIT will provide IT staff and Adobe users instructions on how to activate a new Adobe license.
If you have questions or need assistance, please email the U’s Adobe support team at classhelp@utah.edu.
Access this IT Knowledge Base article for project details (login required), which will be updated throughout the license transition process.
