Employee Assistance Program
The EAP will be available as a resource for all university employees through June 30, 2021, (regardless of benefit-eligible status or enrollment in the health plan). Please take advantage of this benefit if you or your family members need help.
Flexible Spending Accounts
The Year-End Budget bill signed in December provided some voluntary relief for FSA Plans. The university will be implementing several of the provisions from that bill. We are working with HealthEquity to set up their system to administer an additional six months to the grace period for the 2019-20 Plan Year FSA elections. Additionally, daycare expenses for children through age 13 will be eligible for reimbursement. As soon as HealthEquity’s system is ready, we will notify each employee who has a balance of $5 or greater so they can submit or incur claims.
In addition, the bill provided that employees currently contributing to an FSA can change or cancel their FSA election going forward (not retroactively). If you change your election with the amount you have contributed to date, you will no longer be participating and will not be able to incur future expenses. If you reduce your election so that you continue to have amounts deducted, you will continue to participate and can continue to submit new eligible claims for reimbursement.
Academic campus and University of Utah Health academics employees can make a change to your current election by completing the FSA Change form online and submitting it to UHRM.
RedMed, the Employee Health Clinic, remains open to assess and treat work-related injuries and other non-emergency medical conditions. RedMed is located on the ground floor of the Union Building and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You can schedule an appointment through the RedMed web page.
