Attention all students! On Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, the J. Willard Marriott Library will be holding the first annual Fall Fest at the Library. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and go on until 1:30 p.m. in the atrium on Level 3. The event will feature free food, prizes and valuable information about how the library can help during the fall semester.
What can I expect at Fall Fest?
Previously known as Hooplaza, the event will feature the same great library services but will have a new autumnal theme for the food and décor. Other student-centered services such as the Learning Center and the Writing Center will also be there. Students will get to learn about all library services and many collections and databases. Each table will have unique offerings; for example, ProtoSpace will be offering a chance to win a free 3D-printed dice tower. Students will be able to ask all of their questions—everything from where to find textbooks and reserve materials, to printing in the library and setting up a consultation with their librarian.
How can I win the Nintendo Switch?
How cool is this!?
Students will have the opportunity to win a brand-new OLED Nintendo Switch by visiting library tables and receiving a stamp on their “passport” card.
What kind of food will be there?
Students will have a variety of food choices at Fall Fest including coffee, Pepsi products, donuts, pizza and even miniature cinnamon rolls! Food will be first come first serve, so be sure to get there early.
Not only is this the library’s first Fall Fest, but it is also the first major library event for Sarah Shreeves, the new Alice Sheets Marriott Dean of Libraries. “I am excited to be able to meet the students at the U and help them connect with library resources. I hope this event raises awareness of all the library has to offer and that we’re truly here for students,” she said.
