How can you make ethical food choices? How did an Alabama man become a crusader for the world’s waters? What happened when a young filmmaker tried to document destruction of an ancient forest in Tasmania?

These are just some of the topics that will be showcased during the Wild & Scenic Film Festival set for Nov. 3 at the Fort Douglas Post Theater.

It’s the 5th year the U’s Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program has hosted a film festival to raise money for student scholarships. This year’s festival will feature nine short films on environmental topics provided by the South Yuba River Citizens League.

There will be light refreshments as well as prize drawings and a silent auction with ski passes, passes to Tracy Aviary and Red Butte Garden, climbing ropes and more.

The event is for a good cause: All proceeds will go to a student scholarship fund. Last year’s festival raised enough money to provide two $2,500 scholarships.

Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for non-students and can be purchased here or at the door.
