FOOTHILL DRIVE WALKING AND BIKING AUDIT

[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]You are invited to join the community and Parametrix on a walking/biking audit of the Foothill Drive corridor on Thursday, May 26 from 4-6 p.m. Meet at the northeast corner of the Walmart parking lot at 4 p.m. and please plan on arriving promptly to maximize time spent evaluating the corridor.

The walking group will be van-supported and will primarily focus on conditions along Foothill Drive. The biking group will be looking at biking conditions along Foothill Drive as well as parallel corridors. You are welcome to either walk or bike, however if you plan on biking, please bring your own bike.

EAST BENCH MASTER PLAN AND PARLEY’S WAY CORRIDOR PLAN MEETING

[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]The East Bench Master Plan and Parley’s Way Corridor Plan will be the road maps that guide future development and policy decisions related to the East Bench community. The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 25 at 451 S State Street, Room 326, Salt Lake City, to hear your thoughts regarding the plans. The Planning Commission meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and the East Bench Master Plan is the fourth item on the agenda. The Planning Commission may choose to hold additional public hearings and/or work sessions prior to making their recommendation to the city council.

HINCKLEY INSTITUTE OF POLITICS NAMES NEW COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR[bs_row class=”row”][bs_col class=”col-sm-4″]

[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]The Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah has tapped veteran journalist Jennifer Napier-Pearce to become its new associate director of communications.

Napier-Pearce’s broad experience in print, radio and online media will strengthen the Hinckley’s mission of promoting political involvement, civil discourse and valued political analysis, said Hinckley Institute director Jason Perry.

“Jennifer’s fresh perspective, energy and respected reputation will amplify the Hinckley Institute story in new ways,” Perry said. “I’m delighted to have her on board as we build on the institute’s rock-solid history as a leader in education, politics and community dialogue.”[/bs_col]

[bs_col class=”col-sm-8″]Concert series tickets went on sale April 25 and are still available for 12-15 of the 30 acts that will perform in the Red Butte Garden Amphitheater this summer.

From its beginning in the 1980s as a series of five or six “alfresco summer concerts” in the garden on Sunday evenings, to the current 3,000-capacity Red Butte Garden Amphitheater with top-name acts and a schedule chock-full of consistently sold-out shows, Red Butte Garden is the place to experience some of the best summer concerts in Utah.

You get it all — panoramic alpine-glow views of the Wasatch Front and the Salt Lake Valley sunset, a botanical garden, your blanket and picnic spread out on the Amphitheater lawn in the foothills and then, of course, there are the amazing artists on stage.
