Employee Appreciation Day is Thursday, Sept. 24 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Rice-Eccles Stadium. All faculty and staff are invited to this day of fun and recognition. Remember, your UCard is your entry ticket. We look forward to seeing you there.

Calling all bands
Would you like an opportunity to promote your band at Employee Appreciation Day? We know that we have a lot of talent at the U and would like to give you a platform to share your talent with us. Please contact Amy Tolman at 801-581-8099 or amy.tolman@utah.edu by Aug. 17 if your band is interested in participating at this year’s EAD.

Volunteers
EAD is made possible by our fabulous staff and faculty volunteers. Volunteering at EAD is a great way to meet people throughout the campus and to say thanks to your fellow staff members. Volunteers are asked to work in one to two hour shifts and will receive a pair of athletic tickets in appreciation. Please visit our volunteer registration site to register.

EAD exhibitors
Maybe you know of a local business that would like to be at EAD as an exhibitor to market their product or service or perhaps your department would like to reach out to university staff and faculty. If so, exhibitor applications are being accepted. You may apply on our exhibitor page. If you would like additional information, please contact Marcia Cook at 801-581-6374 or marcia.cook@utah.edu.

Hooked on Books
Time to spring clean your book shelves at home and bring in all your dusty books for the Hooked on Books annual book drive. Books collected will be given away to faculty and staff at Employee Appreciation Day. Collection boxes are located at the east and west entrances of the Marriott Library. Also look for drop off boxes at various locations across campus. Please visit the Hooked on Books website to learn more.

SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE INSURANCE RATE REDUCTION

The university’s life insurance carrier, The Hartford, recently agreed to a 10 percent reduction in the Supplemental Life Insurance premium rates for our enrolled employees. The new rates were effective July 1, 2015. The new, reduced rates apply to both employee and spouse supplemental insurance, a Term Life insurance benefit.

Representatives from The Hartford will be at Employee Appreciation Day on Sept. 24 with several paralympic athletes. Be sure to stop by their area to meet the athletes and ask any questions you may have about life insurance.
