Talk your way to a $5,000 scholarship

The University of Utah’s annual speech contest returns! The Hinckley Institute is hosting another exciting year of HIP Talks. Created in honor of the former. Utah Congressman Wayne Owens, HIP Talks is a celebration of the power and potential of public speaking.

Students from across the university, both undergraduate and graduate, are invited to sign up and perform their original two-minute speeches. If they rise to the top, they are invited to come back to the finale round for a chance at one of five $1,000 runner-up scholarship prizes or, the grand prize of $5,000 in scholarship funding.

This year, the Hinckley Institute is hosting three qualifying rounds to ensure that as many students as possible have the opportunity to participate. After signing up online, students can select April 13, 15, or 16 to come to the Hinckley Institute and present their speech.

The Hinckley Institute encourages students to think creatively, practice their speech ahead of time, and remember they only have two minutes to win it!
