RUTH V. WATKINS NAMED NEW U PRESIDENT

The Utah State Board of Regents name Dr. Ruth V. Watkins the 16th president of the University of Utah.

Legislative session and U

The 2018 Utah legislative session begins today, and according to Jason Perry, U vice president for government relations, the U has four key priorities.

CLEAR THE AIR CHALLENGE

Throughout February, the U will compete in the Clear the Air Challenge to reduce the number of single-occupant vehicles on the road and reduce emissions from personal vehicles.

QUIET HEROES

During the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, a documentary will premiere depicting the courageous story of physician Kristen Reis, a retired U professor, and her partner (both in life and work) Maggie Snyder. “Quiet Heroes” depicts Reis’ selfless career as the first doctor in Utah to treat HIV/AIDS patients at a time when others cruelly turned them away.

Hundreds of volunteers banded together Jan. 13 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to make these and other projects come to life. In all, Bennion Center student leader Bryan Luu coordinated 11 different projects community partners identified as priorities.
