Your voice matters: Elevate the U on the Princeton Review survey

We all know the University of Utah is an incredible place to go to school. It’s time to let the nation know it, too.

Each year, thousands of prospective students turn to The Princeton Review to help decide where they will attend college. Its rankings, lists and school profiles are among the most widely read and trusted resources in higher education. What many students may not realize, however, is that these rankings are shaped largely by student voices—including those from the U.

By taking a few minutes to complete The Princeton Review Undergraduate Student Survey, U students can directly influence more than 50 ranking lists and ratings, including categories related to academics, campus life, student services, sustainability and overall satisfaction.

In addition to rankings, students contribute to the narrative profile written about each institution. These profiles are often the first impression prospective students and families have of a university and really convey the personality of the institution. When enough students participate, the resulting profile is more accurate, more nuanced and better aligned with the reality of life on campus.

Participation matters because if response rates are low, the data may not fully capture the strengths of the University of Utah or the diversity of student experiences. Higher participation ensures that positive aspects of the U—such as strong academics, research opportunities, campus culture and student support—are reflected clearly and fairly.

Most importantly, the survey gives students a chance to share their honest perspective. The Princeton Review’s approach is unique because it centers on what students actually experience day to day—from classroom engagement and advising to housing, food and campus life. Each response contributes to a more complete picture of what it means to be a student at the U.

By sharing your experience, you help ensure the University of Utah receives recognition for what it does well—and that future students see an accurate reflection of campus life.
