Take public transit and avoid the stress of parking while checking out some of the many summer festivals, concerts and other events Utah has to offer.

All transit provided by the Utah Transit Authority, UTA, is free for University of Utah students, faculty and staff with their UCards.

Here are a few ideas to help you start planning an adventure:

Utah State Fairpark

Access via the TRAX Green Line

Two of Utah’s largest annual summer celebrations are held here—the Days of ’47 Rodeo in July and the State Fair in September.

Downtown Ogden

Access via FrontRunner

The northernmost stop on the FrontRunner, Ogden’s 25th Street, is a short walk from the Ogden Station. Here you’ll find a Saturday farmers market from late-May to mid-September and a monthly First Friday Art Stroll.

If you don’t mind walking a little further, Frontrunner provides a low-stress way to get to Lindquist Field for an Ogden Raptors game or the Ogden Amphitheater for the city’s Twilight Festival. Just make sure to check when the last train of the day leaves.

Draper City Park

Access via the TRAX Blue Line

The Draper Town Center station is located across from the city’s library and main park. In addition to the biking and walking trails that weave through the area, the Draper City Park is home to many summer events.

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday nights through the end of June, the city is hosting free concerts in the park. In July, the park will be the hub for Draper Days events, including a pie-baking contest, pig races, food and craft vendors and more.
