“The University of Utah played a big role in fulfilling my educational ambition by awarding me a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and by helping me graduate. When I first enrolled in the undergrad program at the U as a transfer student from Salt Lake Community College, my advisor in the ECE department took the time to understand my academic goals and guided me onto the right path, which significantly reduced my graduation time.
During my school years, the University of Utah helped me in many ways to succeed, such as providing various opportunities to serve on campus, space for community and scholarships that would foster my growth.
During school breaks, I enjoyed the recreation space in the Student Union, especially playing ping-pong and participating in outdoor activities such as hiking in the beautiful Utah mountains that are not too far away from campus.
I volunteered at Bennion Center, served in the ASUU Senate as the College of Engineering representative and participated in transfer student programs that helped me make friends and attain soft skills.
As a recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in 2025, I can’t overemphasize how the support of the ECE at the U transformed me from a person with ‘no skills’ to someone with lots of knowledge and skills, including teaching. Also, I am proud to be a recipient of the Chair’s List Award of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
When I first started at school, I had fears and worries, such as talking in front of the audience or how people would see me. I allowed myself to challenge the fears and open myself to the experiences that the University of Utah offers. It worked out so well.
So many great stories to tell, and I am excited for my future!”
