COVID-19 Research Operations Update from the VPR

As a reminder, University of Utah’s onsite research is still restricted to “Limited Research Activities” ONLY while the U remains in the Orange Phase, (see the Research Alert Levels table for more information.) As the number of positive Coronavirus cases increases in Utah, we strongly urge our research community to remain diligent in all hygiene and protective efforts, and practice caution with all onsite research activities.

Here are this week’s updates:

Executive Order from White House on Immigration Restrictions:

On Monday, June 22, 2020, President Trump issued an Executive Order  titled “Proclamation Suspending Entry of Aliens Who Present a Risk to the U.S. Labor Market Following the Coronavirus Outbreak”. As of this moment, the order will go into effect on June 24, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Please see the full statement from Vice President Weyrich on the impacts of this Executive Order on our University of Utah community.

Face Coverings Required in all Utah Higher Education Buildings:

Face masks are required in all higher education buildings, as mandated by Utah State Governor Herbert. The campus-wide face covering policy described at the University’s return to campus website is in full effect, and applies to everyone who comes to campus.
