Healing chronic pain and opioid addiction

Eric Garland, associate dean for research at the College of Social Work, has been appointed to a Multidisciplinary Working Group focused on a $1.1 billion federal effort to speed scientific solutions to stem the opioid crisis.

Students supporting sobriety

The U’s student recovery program has provided much-needed support and it’s leadership team lobbied for and received $100,000 annual funding from the Utah Legislature.

SNAIL VENOM: ALTERNATIVE TO OPIOIDS

A multi-disciplinary team of researchers at the U received a $10 million grant from the Department of Defense to identify new, natural compounds to develop non-opioid drugs for pain management.
