Welcome to Utah!

Orientation is over, and classes are about to start, but you may still have questions about resources and opportunities on campus, or even where things are! Don’t worry about it; the Housing & Dining Program, Office of Residence Life and Office of Student Experience have you covered.

Happenings on campus

This week, thousands of students will arrive on campus ready to move into their new homes for the year. But while setting up their rooms and meeting the people in their dorms is exciting, it’s only half the magic happening. There is a whole campus to explore.

Between Aug. 19-21, pick up a “Welcome to Utah” guide and check out activities at locations at the U that will become central to your life as a student. You can either do a walking tour or jump on one of the many “welcome wagons” crisscrossing both lower and upper campuses to check them all out!

The activities include:

  • A live DJ spinning top tunes on the Legacy Bridge
  • The IKEA lounge in Kahlert Village
  • Free food in both dining halls
  • Pop-A-Shots at the Union
  • Mini-golf at the Campus Store
  • Ice cream treats at the Library Plaza
  • Photos at the Block U

In addition to the welcome activities, every day of the week will feature special events from Housing & Dining Programs, the Office of Residence Life and several campus partners, for all students and their guests, as well as some events just for students who are living on campus.

These events include:

Answers to all your questions available online

The “Welcome to Utah” initiative has an online presence as well, with all the information you need to make the U your home and your college career a success long after move-in week is over. Here you will find easy access to all of the major campus support systems in one location, including:

  • Academic and financial support: Connections to Academic Advising, the Bursar’s Office, the Dean of Students and Financial Aid.
  • Health, safety and wellness: Direct access to the Student Health Center, Counseling Center, and MH1 (Mental Health First Responders), as well as direct links to Campus Safety and Disability & Access.
  • Campus operations: Contacts for Housing & Dining Services and Commuter Services can answer questions about logistics, parking and on-campus living.
