Dear Faculty and Staff,
From our home at the center of the University of Utah’s campus, the staff of the A. Ray Olpin University Union strive to cultivate an inclusive environment for all students and fulfill our mission as the university’s community center. In addition to planning and hosting the various social, cultural and recreational activities programmed throughout the year, the Union has also invested financially in student leaders who make our mission a reality.
We are excited to announce that, thanks to the support of our incredible partners, we will be disbursing over $100,000 across 17 scholarships at the upcoming 2018 Union Scholarship Celebration. This amount is more than all our previous years combined.
The Union Scholarship Fund, created in 2011, has helped support 25 student leaders with over $55,000 in scholarships. Over the years, the Union Scholarship Fund has gained an extensive range of donor support, which has aided in the establishment of a long-lasting endowment. This year, we have been privileged to collaborate with new partners who share our vision of supporting student leaders. These departments include the Dream Center, Veterans Support Center, American Indian Resource Center, and the Student Affairs Diversity Council.
This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our campus partnerships. Not only are these collaborations vital to the financial success of the Union Scholarship Fund, but the relationships built through these collaborations also help us reach underrepresented student populations.
The Union leadership sincerely appreciates the commitment our donors exhibit in providing access to higher education for our scholarship recipients. Thanks to your your support, these students can continue their efforts to create and expand an inclusive campus community.
