Starting this fall, all University of Utah employees with an active uNID number can choose between four options via payroll deduction, with up to 14 payments made throughout the academic year.
The Arches and Canyonlands plans are the new additions. These were designed for customers who value flexibility, since their focus is on purchasing dining dollars instead of taps.
Savings
The standard door rate at both all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, Urban Bytes at Kahlert Village and United Table at Peterson Heritage Center, is $19.50. By purchasing a Crimson or Wasatch dining plan, faculty and staff can save up to $9.50 per meal; a great deal for having a balanced and complete lunch with salad bar, soup of the day, an entrée, some fruit, or dessert.
“Faculty and staff dining plans make it easier to fit a good meal into a busy day while taking advantage of the variety available across campus,” said Sean Grube, associate vice president for Housing & Dining Programs. “Whether someone wants to grab something quickly between meetings, meet colleagues for lunch, or try a different dining location, these plans offer a convenient and flexible way to make campus dining part of their workday.”
What to eat and where?

Our two all-you-care-to-eat dining halls have different food concepts inside. In Urban Bytes at Kahlert Village, guests can find Mexican food (chicken tacos with corn tortillas are a must-try), comfort food (do not miss the Cajun chicken), Italian and Asian food, sandwiches, and grilled options (with delicious burgers and the famous chicken Caesar wrap).
On the upper campus, inside the Peterson Heritage Center at United Table, the Delicious Without station with weekly meat, pork, and chicken dishes is highly recommended!
Can I use my plan outside the dining hall?
As each plan comes with dining dollars that can be used in any of the U Dining locations across campus, customers can purchase menu items in many locations. This includes the first QDOBA in Salt Lake City—inside Trailhead, our newest residence hall—, Panda Express at the Union, and many markets and coffee shops, including Café Epicenter and Miller Café at Lassonde Studios.
Other locations include the new 521 Kitchen located inside the Kahlert Foundation Café within the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine. This is a modern dining destination with a rotating selection of chef-crafted menu options, including elevated American grill favorites, customizable salads and grain bowls, Middle Eastern-inspired pitas and bowls, flatbreads, pasta, and wellness-focused Blue Zone dishes.
Additionally, Quartzdyne Café, with convenient grab-and-go items at the Kennecott Mechanical Engineering Building; Crimson View, the restaurant on the fourth floor of the Student Union; The Bean Yard in the Humanities Building; and CupBop at Gardner Commons are convenient on-campus locations.
Eligible faculty dining plan holders may use a meal swipe as a Swoop Swap at participating campus dining locations. Swoop Swap allows faculty to redeem one meal for a select combination of menu items. Available options and participating locations may vary throughout the year. Some options include: tacos and a drink at QDOBA, a build-your-own bowl at Epicenter Cafe, a breakfast or lunch bagel with a drink at Einstein Bros, a panini or flatbread with a drink at The Other Side Donuts, or a smoothie bowl or a shake at Shake Smart.
