Workers Compensation Injuries in 2017

Each year, the university is required to report certain work-related injuries and illnesses to OSHA.  Copies of the summary report will be posted throughout the university from Feb. 1 through April 30. During 2017, the university experienced significantly reduced injury costs and only had four injuries that resulted in the employee being away from work. Let’s focus on making 2018 even safer.

Please remember that employees who are injured at work should use RedMed as their first point of care unless the injury is life- or limb-threatening or occurs after RedMed Clinic hours, in which case the employee should be taken to the nearest emergency room. Information about RedMed is available on the web at hr.utah.edu/RedMed.

HR’s Absence Management team coordinates workers compensation claims, as well as leaves of absence. Contact AbsenceManagement@utah.edu with any questions regarding workers compensation injuries/illnesses and leaves of absence.

UBenefits is Now Complete

After about two years in development, the UBenefits web portal is complete. Employees can enroll in or change their benefits through UBenefits without having to complete and submit paper enrollment forms. Employees can enroll in or change their voluntary retirement contributions, enrollment in Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, and apply for tuition reduction. You can change other benefits if you experience a life event, such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or a family member losing or gaining other health coverage. You can also view paychecks and see a summary of the benefits in which you are enrolled.
