Later this month, Pioneer Theatre Company presents the Utah premiere of “Dear Evan Hansen,” the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway sensation that has touched audiences around the world. Running Oct. 24–Nov. 8 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre, the production marks the first time a Utah-based theater company has been granted the rights to produce the show.
Leading the cast is newcomer Kyle Dalsimer in the role of Evan, joined by Broadway veterans Donna Vivino as Heidi Hansen and Andrew Samonsky as Larry Murphy. They’re joined by an impressive company of actors, including Jordan Briggs, Khadija Sankoh, Marika Aubrey, Elyse Bell and Larry Saperstein. Together, this cast brings fresh energy and depth to a show that has already become a modern classic.
Artistic Director Karen Azenberg, who also directs and choreographs the production, notes that the themes of “Dear Evan Hansen” feel even more urgent today than when the musical first debuted. “The show’s themes of connection and belonging resonate deeply in the world we live in now,” she said. With a top-tier creative team and a story that speaks to audiences of all ages, PTC’s “Dear Evan Hansen” promises to be one of the most powerful events of the theater season.
