Utah Day 1 Books Access Program is a campus-wide initiative to ensure undergraduate students have access to required digital and print course materials starting the first day of class delivered digitally through via Canvas Bookshelf for a total cost of only $259 per semester. Learn how to access your textbooks with our How to Guide.
Undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in the program each semester, allowing them to try out all digital and print course materials for a trial period before the add/drop deadline, at that point they will decide which course materials to continue with for the remainder of the semester.
- Utah Day 1 Books Access provides students taking undergraduate courses (level 1000-5999) with all required textbooks each semester for a low flat rate of $259 per semester saving students over 50% off course material expenses. The charge is posted to the students’ account each semester.
- Eligible students begin each semester with complete access to required textbooks no later than the first day of class. Digital books are delivered within Canvas, while all print books are distributed by the Campus Store. This means you do NOT need to order any books, unless you have opted out of the program. Learn how to access your books in Canvas Bookshelf.
- Students can log in to Canvas to view program options, including how to opt-out. The opt-out deadline for spring semester is the add/drop deadline, January 16, 2026.
