The University of Utah will host the third annual Slide to Glory USA Bobsled & Skeleton combine on March 14. The event allows aspiring athletes from any background to test their speed, strength and potential in two of the fastest sports on ice.
The Slide to Glory combine is designed to identify and develop future Team USA athletes and Winter Olympian hopefuls in both bobsled and skeleton. Participants will undergo a series of athletic performance tests, including sprinting, jumping, and strength evaluations in the 40-yard sprint, 5-10-5 pro agility shuttle, vertical jump, kneeling power ball toss and Prowler push test. Participants must be 16 years or older.
Results will be used as physical benchmarks to recruit potential team members to attend Rookie Camp, the next step to training elite bobsled and skeleton athletes.
Coming off an extremely successful Olympic showing for the University of Utah, this event gives athletes of any sport another opportunity for Olympic and winter sport development. By bringing this national talent search to campus, the U continues to play a role in advancing winter sport excellence in Utah and beyond as the state and campus prepare to host the 2034 Olympic Winter Games.
The combine is open to individuals with competitive athletic backgrounds who are interested in exploring opportunities in bobsled or skeleton. Coaches and representatives from USA Bobsled & Skeleton will be on site to evaluate participants and provide insight into next steps within the national team pipeline.
Members of the campus and the broader community can register and learn more about the combine on March 14 here.
