Two IT downtime events on May 6-7

Due to planned database life-cycle upgrades, UIT has two downtime notices to announce:

1. Multiple IT services will be briefly unavailable on May 6.

University of Utah and University of Utah Health IT services, applications and websites that require central authentication service (CAS), Shibboleth, SailPoint and Grouper authentication protocols will be unavailable for five minutes or less on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m.

Impacted apps, services and websites include, but are not limited to:

University of Utah

  • Canvas
  • Campus Information Services (CIS)
  • UBox
  • Zoom
  • Virtual private networks (VPNs)
  • MyTime (UKG Pro Workforce Management)
  • PeopleSoft and related student and faculty web apps
  • SailPoint provisioned or supported services
  • ServiceNow IT Knowledge Base and Service Catalog

University of Utah Health

  • Learning Management System

2. CIS and Campus Directory will be unavailable on May 7.

Campus Information Services (CIS), Campus Directory, and other university websites, systems, and software applications will be unavailable on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5 to 7 a.m.

The following systems will not be available:

  • CIS
  • Campus Directory
  • wiki.sys.utah.edu
  • jira.sys.utah.edu
  • Oracle APEX-generated websites (Project Management)
  • UFACPROD systems (University Faculty Information & Support)
  • Open Range software applications (Environmental Health & Safety)

Note: Splash pages for unavailable systems will be posted during the outage.

The following systems will be available:

  • Canvas
  • UMail
  • utah.edu
  • MyTime (UKG Pro Workforce Management)
  • PeopleSoft systems:
    • Campus Solutions (HE)
    • Financials (FS)
    • HR HelpDesk (CRM)
    • Human Resources (HR)
    • Degree Audit Report System (DARS)
