No matter who you are, getting around the University of Utah’s campus can take some time. Between the size of our campus and the surrounding area and the distance from transit stops to buildings, the last part of the commute can be the hardest. SPIN Scooters gives campus community members a quick, flexible way to finish their trip!
SPIN works especially well for those who park further from their desired location, ride UTA services, or need to get across campus in a hurry. Instead of adding extra walking time to every trip, commuters can use the SPIN app to find a nearby scooter and get where they need to go faster.
How to set up the SPIN app and your payment method
To get started, download the SPIN app, create an account, and use the app to find the nearest scooter. Don’t forget to load your UCard with UCash and use it to ride!
To add funds to your UCard, you can use cash, check, or debit/credit card. Visit the UCard Office (Union Rm 158 or University Hospital LL2 Room B016), a Marriott Library Deposit Station, or the online card office. Additional details can be found on UCard’s website.
Once your account is set up, use the SPIN app to find the best path to your destination. Keep an eye on university communications for any updates or changes to the SPIN program. Scooters cost $1 to unlock and $0.23 per minute of use.
Ride responsibly
To have the best SPIN experience on campus, it’s important to ride with care. Yield to pedestrians, follow roadway rules and traffic signs, and avoid riding or parking inside buildings or parking garages. Don’t forget your helmet and be sure to return your scooter to a designated station!
The University’s commitment
In addition to being an affordable way to navigate campus, SPIN Scooters support the University of Utah’s commitment to micro-mobility and sustainable transportation options by providing an eco-friendly option and reducing single-occupancy vehicle trips to promote greener and more convenient transportation.
