RedPrint grows again

The University of Utah’s campus printing network, RedPrint, has grown again. A new printer has been installed on the second floor of the Union, conveniently located near Panda Express. This brings the total number of RedPrint devices on campus to 23.

RedPrint isn’t a typical standalone printer; it’s the university’s centralized, secure printing system available to students, faculty and staff. The service allows you to send your documents from almost anywhere on campus and then use your UCard to print them at any RedPrint machine.

There are two main ways to send print jobs to a RedPrint device:

  • Mobility Print: This option installs a printing profile on your device so you can print directly to the RedPrint Anywhere network without emailing files. It behaves like an app on your computer or phone and supports additional features like larger paper sizes.
  • Email to Print: If you prefer not to use Mobility Print, you can attach documents, such as PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets, slides or images, to an email and send them to RedPrint’s secure print queue. Once the job is in the queue, you have up to four hours to go to a RedPrint station and print it.

At the printer itself, users tap their UCard or use a mobile credential to log in and choose from their queued jobs. This approach reduces stray or forgotten printouts and adds a layer of document security because nothing is printed until the user is physically at the machine.

Whether you’re finishing a last-minute assignment or printing materials for class, RedPrint continues to be the university’s standard solution for campus printing. If you would like to try it yourself, visit one of the locations listed here!
