New request form for filming on campus

The University of Utah is regularly contacted by a variety of people for permission to film on campus. To manage these opportunities, a new request process has been developed. If you are contacted by anyone asking permission to film on campus, please direct them to visit brand.utah.edu to determine which process to follow to get approval for filming and find additional information about requirements.

  • These requirements are not intended for news media photography and video or personal photography or video.
  • Student projects, faculty and staff should follow internal guidelines found here (uNID required).
  • Commercial projects may be allowed with the permission of the University Marketing & Communication Office and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine fees and insurance requirements. Commercial entities should fill out the Filming on Campus Request Form.
  • Projects produced by non-commercial projects or not-for-profit organizations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please fill out the Filming on Campus Request Form.

Request forms should be submitted as far in advance of the project as possible because the U’s primary function is to educate students. Therefore, all commercial photography and video, motion picture and television filming must adhere to all established rules, regulations, fee schedules and campus policies.
