The campus community is invited to celebrate the opening of the Native Ascent House during a ribbon cutting and open house on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Officer’s Circle, House 608.

The gathering will mark an important milestone in the University of Utah’s continued efforts to create educational environments where Native students can thrive academically and culturally and recognize not only the opening of a building, but the relationships, advocacy, vision and collective effort that made the Native Ascent House possible.

The opening of the new living-learning community marks a new chapter in the center’s work to create spaces where Native students can thrive while welcoming all residents to contribute to a community grounded in culture, connection, responsibility and belonging.

The event will begin with an opening cultural reverence preparing the space with intention, gratitude and connection.

Guests will the hear remarks from U leaders and reflections from members of the Native Ascent community. Attendees will also have an opportunity to tour the house, connect with students and campus partners and gather over refreshments.
