On Aug. 8, the University of Utah, U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard will complete the historic transfer of Fort Douglas. And you’re invited!
The day-long celebration begins at 9 a.m. with a ceremony at Fort Douglas’ Soldier Field to commemorate the unique history of the fort in the foothills above Salt Lake City—from its founding, through two world wars to the present.
“Join us for a meaningful and historic gathering at Fort Douglas as we commemorate its closing ceremony and honor the legacy of service, sacrifice and community that has defined this landmark for generations,” the Army Reserve invitation says.
After a luncheon, the action moves to Camp Williams in Bluffdale with a ribbon-cutting for a new operations center.
All are invited, and the Army Reserve encourages sharing this invitation with anyone who has a connection to Fort Douglas.
