The Center for Campus Wellness is revitalizing its Recovery at the U Program to provide a supportive environment where students seeking and sustaining substance recovery can achieve personal and academic success.
College life is a unique experience that brings academic pressures, social dynamics, and newfound independence that can contribute to increased substance use. Research finds that students who use substances like alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and other drugs report frequent struggles with academics and decreased motivation. The consequences of decreased focus can have a major impact on the life of a college student, impacting not only health but also academic achievements and future opportunities.
In contrast, research finds that students engaged in collegiate recovery programs like Recovery at the U often achieve higher GPAs and improved retention and graduation rates compared to the general student body. Although not a clinical treatment program, this peer support community offers students the opportunity to attend peer support groups, skills trainings, sober social events, educational workshops, and more!
We invite all students seeking support in their recovery journey to join our program. Our community is here to support students who are newly embracing sobriety or have been on this path for some time. By joining our program, students can connect with peers who share similar goals, benefit from resources and support systems, develop life skills, and give back to their community.
