Calling all squirrel observers for Squirrel Fest 2025!

The Natural History Museum of Utah is collecting data on where squirrels are and aren’t living in northern Utah—and we need your help! Squirrel Fest is our annual nine-day data collection extravaganza, encouraging Utahns to look for and submit surveys of squirrels to NHMU. This ongoing data collection will help museum researchers better understand the ecological impacts of the Eastern Fox Squirrel, a non-native species recently introduced to northern Utah.

The survey begins Saturday, Dec. 6, and lasts for nine days.

Access the survey and learn all about the Eastern Fox Squirrel.
