Please consider nominating individuals who have demonstrated distinction in service to society and/or the University of Utah through professional achievement, public or community service and meaningful engagement with the university. Honors recognize impactful contributions across fields, including research, scholarship, education, the arts, humanities, the professions, business, government service, civic affairs and humanitarian efforts. Strong nominations include clear details of achievements, service activities, community involvement and connections to the university.
Honorary degrees represent the university’s highest recognition and are conferred at Commencement. Founders Day Awards recognize alumni and honorary alumni for outstanding professional accomplishments, public service, commitment to the U and contributions to the university’s mission.
Note that the following are ineligible: current members of the Utah Board of Higher Education; current members of the University of Utah Board of Trustees; current University of Utah faculty and staff; and current public officeholders. Former, retired, emerita or part-time faculty are eligible for Founders Day Awards if retired at least six months prior to the application deadline.
